So I'm now sitting in my room in Edinburgh and I'm really excited to finally be here! It feels like I've been waiting forever to go on this trip!
My trip started off kind of interesting yesterday, with emotions running high and a near fainting spell in the Pittsburgh airport. But I made it to Newark early which is kind of amazing, but then my flight was delayed for Edinburgh. Everything worked out really well though, in the end. I really enjoyed looking out the window of the plane before we were about to land. The topography of Edinburgh and the surrounding country is really interesting. There are all the random hills and cliffs in the city, and looming mountains in the distance. After I checked in at the hotel, I stored my bags and decided to go for a walk. The weather had turned windy and kind of rainy, but I was armed with my rain coat and I ended up really enjoying my walk. I was really able to get a feel for the city and my hotel is located in a prime position, where the breath-taking Edinburgh castle is only a few blocks away. The old city is really fun to walk around in and see all the cool little shops mixed in with cathedrals and castle remnants. I'm looking forward to seeing the "new" city sometime, I saw "new" because it's 300 years old lol. I did forget to grab my camera from my bag before walking around, so I'll have to go again soon!
I'm looking forward to meeting my roommate here and the other people in my group, too. I still can't get over that I'm finally here!
